My name is Art Bardsley, and I’m running for State Central Committeeman for Illinois 16th Congressional District.
I’ve been married for 37 years and have three adult children. I’m semi-retired while currently working part time in the local freight transportation industry.
As we all know, Social Security is not enough to live on. I’m a lifelong resident of Illinois, moving from Chicago to Loves Park in 2003. I became politically active in 2008 when the economy crashed thanks to the repeal of banking regulations like Glass-Steagall in 1999.
Two years later the Occupy Wall Street movement started and joined up with fellow locals as part of Occupy Rockford.
In 2014 I was elected as the Precinct Committeeman (PC) for Harlem District 10 in Winnebago County, Illinois. I ran for the position because I wanted to bring a progressive voice to the Winnebago Democratic Party. In 2016 I became 2nd Vice-Chairman in the Winnebago Democratic Party, and have recruited several progressives to run as PC’s in DeKalb and Winnebago County.
I was heavily involved in the Bernie Sanders campaign in the Rockford area, canvassing in northern Illinois and eastern Iowa, gathering close to 300 petition signatures. I helped at the Rockford campaign office, organized BerniePalooza in Rockford, led several public Bernie presentations, and eventually ran as a delegate for Bernie.
I’m ready to jump in with both feet to take the political revolution into Springfield, and with your help and vote we can take on the establishment and the progressive wave will continue.
